El neumococo es colonizador de la mucosa nasofar\u00edngea en el 5 al 90% de las personas sanas. La relaci\u00f3n entre la colonizaci\u00f3n y el desarrollo de inmunidad es poco clara a\u00fan. Cuando produce enfermedad, el neumococo presenta un amplio espectro de enfermedades desde enfermedades invasivas como osteomielitis y bacteriemia a no invasivas como sinusitis u otitis media.1<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n

La enfermedad invasiva se define como la infecci\u00f3n de sitios que normalmente son est\u00e9riles.1<\/sup><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n
